Missouri gets federal approval for $814 million broadband expansion

Missouri has received approval from the federal government to spend more than $814 million to improve high-speed internet.

A press release from Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe says the money will bring reliable internet to more than 200,000 homes and businesses in hard-to-reach areas of the state.

The approval comes from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration with funding from a federal program called Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD), which helps states expand internet access.

Internet providers across Missouri will have four years to finish and build internet projects ranging from fiber and satellite internet to fixed wireless.
