If you’ve seen viral photos or videos of a furry mini-robot that turns its head and reacts to your movements, you’re not dreaming: it’s called Mirumi and it’s already a trend in tech and social media.
What are Mirumi: the new interactive minirobot that is all the rage
It is not a voice assistant, nor does it give you the weather, nor does it respond with text: Mirumi’s grace is its emotional and gestural interaction, with movements and reactions that imitate attention, surprise or curiosity.
What makes it different?
- It has touch sensors that detect pats and respond.
- Reacts to sounds and movement with spontaneous head turns.
- Its small design makes it ideal for hanging on backpacks or bags and taking it everywhere.
- The interaction is not always pre-programmed the same: an algorithm chooses gestures at random.
Created by the Japanese company Yukai Engineering and presented at events such as CES 2025, Mirumi aims to occupy a place among the trends in unconventional companion robots, where the emotional experience has more value than pure technical functionality.
Its arrival on the market is still in development, with crowdfunding campaigns planned, and many expect this gadget to become the next gift and collectible phenomenon.
