The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, met this Saturday in Madrid with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal. The Argentine president has appeared dressed in work overalls from the oil company YPF.
This company, or rather 51% of it, was expropriated by the Argentine government from Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to the Spanish company Repsol in 2012. After more than a year and a half of conflict, the Argentine Executive and the oil company reached an “agreement in principle” in Buenos Aires to receive compensation.
“It is always a pleasure to meet with my good friend and ally Milei, an international reference for freedom who has returned Argentina to the path of prosperity and to the league of great nations,” Abascal wrote on his X account.
The Vox leader did not mention that, since Milei took office in December 2023, thirty companies closed per day in Argentina. Some 330,000 workers lost their jobs between November 2023 and November 2025 after the closure of more than 22,000 factories.
On this occasion, Milei has come to Spain to close this Saturday the Madrid Economic Forum 2026, a forum for economists, businessmen and far-right politicians. There the Argentine president spoke of the socialists as “filthy lefties,” called Pedro Sánchez “unpresentable” and encouraged the public not to allow themselves to be “psychopated by lefties.”
It is the fifth time coming to Spain in the little more than two years since he has been president. Previously, he also came to attend other ultra-cut events that have coincided with some of the scandals surrounding the Argentine president. Thus, in September 2025 he visited our country to attend the ‘Europa Viva 25’ event at the same time that his image was collapsing in Argentina after a corruption case involved his Government.
Only three months earlier he had attended the ultra and crypto Madrid Economic Forum, which coincided with the controversy over the alleged $LIBRA currency scam. Following this scandal, Abascal described Milei as “Titan“This last trip coincides with the revelation of new details about the $LIBRA scam.
The Argentine president was also seen this weekend in the Spanish capital with his compatriot, businessman Martín Varsavsky, and his wife, Nina Varsavsky. The first, founder of Jazztel and Ya.com, He fled from Spain to Germany as a “COVID refugee” in September 2020. He praised Sweden’s model, which decided to ‘ignore’ the virus, compared to the Spanish “house arrest”, but months before he had advocated social isolation.
Furthermore, the millionaire Varsavsky, who has spoken out on numerous occasions against taxes on large fortunes, promoted an article by Elon Musk in defense of AfD on the Sunday ofWelt January 2025. The newspaper’s opinion chief resigned after the publication and the German Association of Journalists published a note in which it accused the newspaper of having given Musk “carte blanche to advertise the AfD.”
