Milan Footbridge Reopens: Views Above the Gallery

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Stroll across the rooftops of Milan, almost nose to nose with those of the Duomo, from the Victor Emmanuel II Gallery. The experience will be possible from February 7 with the reopening to the public of the exceptional panoramic footbridge of more than 250 meters, located at a height of 40 meters.

It is accessed by a new glass elevator located at number 11 of the Gallery, on the corner of Piazza della Scala.

Unprecedented discovery of the Salon des Horloges

At the top, a secret room opens its doors to the public for the first time: the Salon des Horloges of the Victor Emmanuel II Gallery, where the first public clocks in Europe were born and for many years the city’s time control center. Located above the entrance to the Gallery, the room where the magnificent object in wood and marble sits, also becomes an exhibition space dedicated to emerging artists.

Starting with “The Heart of Milan: Past, Present and Future”a retrospective of more than 60 works tracing the urban evolution of the city center through historical images and contemporary reinterpretations. The photographs come from the historical archives of the Touring Club Italiano, ten of which have been reinterpreted by ten young artists from the Brera Academy, winners of a dedicated competition.

A (re)discovery of the history of Milan

All along the completely restored footbridge, an audio guide (downloadable for free) tells the history of Milan’s emblematic monument, from the Belle-Epoque to today, until arriving at a vast panoramic terrace. A 360-degree view that allows you to admire the entire skyline of the city.
