Mike Tenay‘s Near Return to Wrestling Commentary at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide
A potential comeback for legendary wrestling commentator MIKE TENAY almost materialized at the recent WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event. Despite internal discussions and formal interest from WWE, TENAY did not ultimately join the broadcast team.
According to DAVE MELTZER, reported via F4WOnline Daily Update, WWE approached TENAY about participating in the event. However, negotiations reportedly broke down due to financial disagreements. TENAY, who has been retired from wrestling commentary since leaving TNA in 2016, has declined several offers from various promotions, including WWE, TNA, GCW, and AAA.
TENAY’s involvement would have been particularly significant,as he began his WCW commentary career at the original “Worlds Collide” event in 1994. This performance launched his career with WCW and solidified his status as the original voice of TNA Wrestling.
TENAY, who has remained retired from wrestling commentary as departing TNA in 2016, has turned down several offers over the years from promotions including WWE, TNA, GCW, and AAA.
