Miguel Albuquerque Says The Fall Of The…

The president of the Government of Madeira, who also fell following a process investigating suspicions of corruption in the archipelago, warns of the growth of extremism in situations such as the one involving the former prime minister.

Miguel Albuquerque today classified as “bizarre” the situation that caused the fall of the government with an absolute majority of the PS and highlighted that it encourages the growth of extremism.

“Everyone has already realized, or at least most people with some lucidity have realized something that was obvious, which is that this situation cannot continue. You have a Prime Minister of a Government with an absolute majority in which the Government falls and no one knows why it fell to this day,” he said.

Miguel Albuquerque, who was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to a company in Funchal, reacted in this way to the fact that former Prime Minister António Costa considered that the “occasion made the decision” for the President of the Republic to put an end “prematurely” ” to the previous legislature and that the right was frantic in search of a pretext for the dissolution of parliament.

This interpretation of the events that led Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to call early elections appears in the preface written on March 15th by António Costa for a book written by the former president of the PS Parliamentary Group Eurico Brilhante Dias, entitled “Written words”.
