A 54-year-old man residing in the United States illegally was arrested after allegedly writing a letter threatening to kill former President Donald Trump and then return to Mexico,according to reports.

However, investigators are now exploring the possibility that the charges against the man were fabricated. The alleged scheme may have been designed to ensure his arrest and deportation from the United states before he could testify in court as a victim of assault,according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke with the Associated Press.

law enforcement officials believe that the man, identified as Ramon Morales reyes, may not have written the threatening letter. The letter, expressing anger over deportations ordered by Trump, threatened to shoot the former president in the head with a gun at a rally with his supporters.

The letter was reportedly shared on the X platform, along with a photo of Morales Reyes. The White House also allegedly shared the content on its social media accounts.
