Following Amazon’s recent service outage, here are more known service issues.
Relatively soon after the massive service outage from Amazon comes more unpleasant news. Microsoft is currently struggling with a massive outage of its services that use its Azure cloud platform. Outages are worldwide, they can also affect Slovak users. Theverge.com or the BBC draw attention to the topic.
Affected services that use Azure include, for example, Microsoft 365 solutions, Xbox game services, and Minecraft. Coincidentally, Microsoft should soon announce its economic results for the past period. A similar outage is not pleasant accompanying news, as Microsoft has relied on cloud services in recent years from the point of view of its business.
Microsoft has already warned that services such as Outlook and Teams may “go on strike”, several business customers of Microsoft 365 solutions also report problems – especially from the point of view of access to administrative tools.
However, according to available reports, the outage of Microsoft’s cloud services has already exceeded the limit of its solutions, and various sites and services from third parties that depend on these technologies are also experiencing outages.
Among other things, the websites of the British Heathrow airport, the NatWest financial group, or the British O2 are said to have problems (slower loading or outages), in the US, for example, the Starbucks or Kroger chains report problems.
There is also talk of problems with the operation of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines
The current Azure outage could be DNS related, similar to the recent Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage.
Outages are also confirmed by Downdetector
The outage of Microsoft services in Slovakia is indicated, among other things, by the website Downdetector.sk, which specializes in mapping similar connectivity problems with services or operators.
