Microsoft Launches New Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 with OpenAI o1 Integration

On January 30, Microsoft unveiled the latest additions to its Surface for Business lineup, including the Copilot+ PCs, Surface Laptop 7, and Surface Pro 11. These new devices are set to hit store shelves on February 18. A day prior, Microsoft also introduced an upgrade for its Microsoft Copilot AI assistant, allowing users to enable OpenAI’s o1 model for more detailed, thoughtful responses.

Discovering Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11

The Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 are equipped with Intel’s Series 2 Core Ultra processors, offering enhanced processing power and efficiency. Both models boast AI-driven features such as natural language Windows Search and the ability to search within images, making data retrieval more intuitive.

The Surface Laptop for Business is available in both 13.8-inch and 15-inch configurations. Microsoft claims the battery life can extend up to 22 hours, offering sustained productivity. It also offers 26% better multitasking performance compared to the Surface Laptop 5, priced starting at $1,499.99.

Notably, 5G connectivity will be available on the Surface Laptop for Business later this year in select markets. This enhancement addresses one of Microsoft’s key customer demands for better cellular connectivity options.

In addition to its advanced features, the Surface Laptop 7 is made with sustainable materials. It includes magnets made from 100% recycled rare earth metals and a battery cell containing entirely recycled cobalt, reflecting Microsoft’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Surface Pro 11 for Business

The Surface Pro 11 tablet features a 13-inch touchscreen, compatible with touch and stylus input, making it versatile for various work scenarios. The device includes similar AI features as the laptop version while maintaining portability. It starts at $1,499.99 and pairs well with the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard for optional keyboard functionality.

  • The introduction of Security Copilot in the Surface Management Portal, beginning with a public preview on February 24.
