The holidays end in just a handful of days. In theory, I should no longer be looking for holiday sweaters, but in part due to more of my colleagues joining in on festive wear, I’ve been wanting to expand my collection. But I’m so dissatisfied with my options. Thing is, I think Microsoft could fix this problem for me.
SkiFree holiday sweater.
Microsoft is done for the year with holiday sweaters, sure. It released a nostalgia collection with nods to early Windows icons, Zune, and the OG Xbox. But I don’t think those move the needle quite the same way as the game all of us wanted to beat but never could. (And technically, never will.) I bet it could be offered year round and it would still sell.
(At the very least, how about a “Holidays in July” drop? For those of us who are busy with work in November and December and want a chance at such limited edition gear?)

Anyway, just picture this: a white sweater, with dark blue ribbing for color contrast on the bands. Zoomed in a bit so you can actually see more of the characters and scenery. And the moment captured would be the Abominable Snow Monster gobbling down our poor skier. With that face that still haunts dreams.
You can’t truly put a price on nostalgia, but we working schlubs do have budgets that create an upper limit on what’s reasonable. If a SkiFree holiday sweater dropped at typical holiday sweater prices, I’d bite. I wouldn’t even be as eager for a Solitaire ugly sweater (where you’re watching the cards do their falling animation), and I have strong sentimental attachment to that game.
SkiFree on the other hand? I mentioned this to another PCWorld staffer and the answer was an immediate yes.[[Make that three of us – ed.]Our credit cards are at the ready.
