Microsoft couldnt fix Windows bug for two years 2024-04-23 09:54:53

Microosft Corporation announced that it has fixed an issue where users of Windows 10 and some Intel processors could not update to the latest version of the OS. This was reported by the publication BleepingComputer, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

The bug prevented Windows 10 from being upgraded to 11 if the consumer was using a computer based on an 11th generation Intel Core processor with Intel Smart Sound Technology audio drivers. When trying to update the system, a critical error appeared that blocked the installation.

Microsoft first acknowledged the bug in November 2021. Thus, the company’s specialists were unable to fix the problem for more than two years. In September 2022, the corporation’s engineers made changes to Windows, prohibiting the update procedure on such devices.

In the spring of 2024, Intel and Microsoft specialists found a way to solve the problem. For computers based on 11th generation Intel chips, the Intel Smart Sound Technology driver 10.30.00.5714 has been released. Users were asked to install the new software on their computers and complete the upgrade process to Windows 11.

According to Bloomberg, Apple made this move at the request of China’s Internet regulator. Apple’s announcement also emphasized that the company “must comply with the laws in the countries where Apple operates”.

Apple stated that the Cyberspace Administration of China asked Apple to remove the above applications from the app store in China due to national security concerns. However, Apple confirmed that the WhatsApp and Threads apps are still available in app stores in other countries.

Currently, Meta, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have not commented on the above information.

New insight into the three-body problem more complicated than first thought

#insight #threebody #problem #complicated #thought

Recent advances in mathematical research shed new light on the three-body problem, revealing 12,000 new solutions that could reshape our understanding of celestial dynamics and the complex dance of bodies orbiting in space.

The three-body problem has puzzled mathematicians and physicists for centuries. The complex question, originally formulated by Isaac Newton, arises when a third celestial body is added to a two-body system. For example, for a planet orbiting a star. The extra body disrupts predictable gravitational interactions, making orbital paths chaotic and unpredictable. A major breakthrough recently occurred when an international team of mathematicians discovered 12,000 new possible trajectories for such systems, greatly expanding the known scenarios that were previously limited to only a few hundred.
The results published in advance on arXiv have not yet been peer-reviewed, but they suggest diverse, intertwined paths that could best be described as “tangled” as a layman. These trajectories start from a stationary position and evolve into dynamic spirals and loops driven by the gravitational attraction between bodies. The study used advanced computing technologies,

Meta Launches Horizon OS for VR Headsets with Xbox Exclusive Licensing Deals with Lenovo and Asus

Meta has started providing its headset operating system to hardware makers. Through the licenses, Lenovo and Asus, among others, will be able to use the Horizon OS for their own VR glasses. There will also be an exclusive Meta Quest for Xbox.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and WhatsApp, among others, licenses its Horizon OS to other companies. The operating system should control new VR glasses from Asus and Lenovo, among other things. In blog Meta also reports that it is working on a developer framework to make it easier to port mobile apps to the same Horizon OS.

In this way, it seems that the technical giant is taking the first steps to become a supplier of operating systems, in the style of, for example, Android or Microsoft, but for the virtual reality market (currently ) much less. The company already has plans for that market, with Horizon’s social level in its software. That open world (can we even say metaverse?) should allow users of the headsets to interact with each other in 3D. There is now also a 2D version on the web. It won’t surprise you that Meta wants to build ads and e-shops into this in the future.

Using Artificial Intelligence, Scientists Create 3D Model of Energetic Flare from Milky Ways Central Black Hole

Unlocking the Hidden Mysteries of Supermassive Black Holes

Black holes have always captivated the imagination of scientists and researchers, offering a glimpse into the mysteries of our universe. In a groundbreaking study, scientists have utilized artificial intelligence (AI) to construct a three-dimensional model of an energetic outburst or flare that occurred around Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), the supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. This groundbreaking 3D model has provided valuable insights into the tumultuous environment that surrounds supermassive black holes.

The material swirling around Sgr A* exists in a unique structure called an “accretion disk,” which can periodically experience dazzling flares across various light wavelengths, spanning from high-energy X-rays to low-energy infrared light and radio waves. Observing and reconstructing these flares in three dimensions is an enormous challenge for scientists.

Introducing Orbital Polarimetric Tomography: Unveiling New Perspectives

To address this challenge, California Institute of Technology scientist Aviad Levis led a team proposing a novel imaging technique called “orbital polarimetric tomography.” Inspired by medical computed tomography (CT) scans used in hospitals worldwide, this methodology aims to uncover hidden details surrounding supermassive black holes and their flaring phenomena.

“The compact region around the galactic center is an extreme place where hot,
