• More than 150 microcredentials strengthen talent in Guanajuato with agile and certified training.
León, Gto., March 3, 2026.– Training in a few hours and improving employment opportunities is already a reality in Guanajuato thanks to microcredentials, a flexible training model that allows students and workers to acquire, in a short time, the skills that the productive sector demands today.
This strategy is part of the vision promoted by the state governor, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, who has indicated that education must respond more quickly to changes in the labor market and become a direct lever to improve the income and quality of life of Guanajuato residents.
During the first session of 2026 of the Microcredentials Subcommittee of the State Productivity Commission, chaired by businessman Fernando Cuadra, the progress of this strategy aimed at strengthening competitiveness and the development of talent in the entity was presented.
The meeting was informed that 87 new microcredentials will be available in the coming weeks. With this, Guanajuato will exceed 150 officially recognized microcredentials, consolidating this offer as a strategic alternative for the training of specialized talent, reported Aldelmo Emmanuel Israel Reyes Pablo, undersecretary of Higher Secondary and Higher Education of the Guanajuato Education Secretariat.
Likewise, the progress of the Labor Prospective Study for the State of Guanajuato was reviewed, an instrument that will allow defining the direction of microcredentials in the coming years, aligning them in a timely manner with the needs of the labor market.
During the meeting, representatives of the business sector shared proposals and raised specific requirements for the formation of specialized human capital, thus strengthening the effective link between education and the productive sector.
The session was attended by the Secretariat of Education of Guanajuato, the Secretariat of Economy, the University of Guanajuato, the University of Celaya, the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato (UVEG), the State Commission for Higher Education Planning (COEPES) and representatives of the business sector, who agreed that this scheme strengthens the connection between education, talent and economic development.
Microcredentials are training programs with a duration of 10 to 50 hours, which can be taken in person, online or in a mixed mode. They are designed by universities and higher education institutions based on the needs detected in the productive sectors.
Unlike traditional programs, which can take years to update, a microcredential can be developed in a period of two to three months, allowing for a rapid response to emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and other strategic workforce competencies, consistent with the state’s innovation and talent development policy.
This model not only benefits students who seek to complement their academic training; It also represents an opportunity for people who are already in the labor market and want to strengthen their profile, improve their income or even move into a new professional field.
In addition, these certifications have the support of higher education institutions and can be accumulated as academic credits, opening the possibility that, over time, participants advance towards a degree in high school or higher education, consolidating a flexible, relevant training path with high value in the labor market.
