Micky van de Ven Questions Ange Postecoglou’s Dismissal After Europa League Win

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has voiced his surprise regarding the choice to sack manager Ange Postecoglou. He noted the “strange” nature of the decision, especially considering Postecoglou had just ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought. According to Van de Ven,the decision was “the club’s choice.”
Postecoglou fulfilled his reputation for securing silverware in his second season by winning the europa League the previous month. Despite this achievement, it wasn’t enough to keep his position, as the board reportedly disapproved of Spurs’ 17th-place finish in the Premier League.
Speaking to Voetbal Zone, Van de Ven stated, “That was ultimately a choice from the club. We, as players, have little to say about that. Of course, he is the first coach in a long time who has won a trophy and had success at Spurs. So if you look at it that way, it is of course a strange choice.”
Van de ven further commented, “It is a choice from the club about which we have little to say, so we will see what happens now. Of course, we see some rumours about the Brentford head coach [Thomas Frank]who it will probably be. so yes, a choice from the club about which we have little to say.”
