Michigan Lawmakers on List Connected to Minnesota Shooting

A suspect accused of fatally shooting a Minnesota political leader and injuring another allegedly possessed a list containing the names of Michigan lawmakers.
The Michigan lawmakers identified on the list include U.S. Reps. Hillary Scholten (D-Grand Rapids) and Debbie Dingell (D-Ann Arbor). Scholten confirmed her inclusion on the list, stating, “Nothing matters more to me than the safety and well-being of the people I serve. After being made aware that my name was on a list connected to the recent tragic shooting in Minnesota, my office has made the difficult decision to postpone our planned town hall in Muskegon.”
Dingell’s office also confirmed that her name appeared on the list.
Vance boelter, 53, is accused of fatally shooting Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their home on Saturday. He is also accused of shooting Sen. John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette. According to reports, he disguised himself as a police officer before the shootings.
Authorities reported that two other Minnesota lawmakers were also targeted. One was not at home, and the other had left after police arrived.
boelter faces federal murder and stalking charges, along with state charges of murder and attempted murder. The Associated Press reports that the 53-year-old possessed numerous notebooks containing plans that appeared to be months in the making. These writings included the names of 45 state and federal officials in Minnesota, along with a list of internet-based people search engines, according to court documents.
Boelter was apprehended on Sunday after being discovered in the woods near his residence.
