It’s not just because of the ever-increasing energy prices and maintenance costs that organizations and clubs all over Austria are struggling – including in the parish of Linz St-Peter, which is largely on its own financially. In addition to the animal food bank, where needy pet owners are helped with food and pet items, people in need are also supported with food. As part of a very special building block campaign, they now want to raise additional funds to cover all costs: Raise the curtain for Franzi, the church mouse!
The team from the parish of Linz-St. Peter came up with a very special idea – and designed an entire themed world of mice, made of clay and each one unique. Among others, āFranziā, the Spallerhof church mouse, was brought to life, named after Pastor Franz Zeiger ā and of course the animal patron, Saint Francis.
Throughout the year there will be a variety of āthemed miceā – such as an Austrian (Reich) mouse, an Easter mouse, a spring mouse, a Thanksgiving mouse, a Christmas mouse, a Linzer mouse, a bat and of course a blue and white mouse (Franz Zeiger is considered the unofficial football priest of the Bundesliga club of the same name) – each hand-painted and handmade, a unique piece in itself and for ten euros!
The first ābuilding blockā mice will be presented on Palm Sunday, March 29th at the consecration of the palm with the donkeys Resi and Liesi on the church square of the Linz-St.Peter parish (from 9:30 a.m., Wallenbergstrasse 20, 4020 Linz).
