MHP Konya Deputy Konur Alp Koçaksubmitted a bill to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the Ereğli district in Konya to become a province.
The proposal also aims to move Ereğli neighborhoods Aziziye, Belkaya and Zengen to district status.

MHP’s Koçak said the following regarding the issue in his post on his X account:
“I submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly our legislative work titled “Proposal for the Establishment of a New Province Named Ereğli”, which envisages Ereğli, one of the most prominent districts of Konya, becoming a province. The proposal also aims to elevate Aziziye, Belkaya and Zengen neighborhoods, which are currently affiliated with Ereğli district, to district status. May it be beneficial for our Konya and Ereğli!”
POPULATION 158 THOUSAND
The population of Ereğli, located in the southeast of Konya, is approximately 158 thousand people.
The distance from Ereğli to Konya city center is 150 kilometers.
