The plane, which disappeared without a trace in 2014, is being searched for using marine robotics.
The search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared almost twelve years ago, will restart today, Tuesday, says The Guardian.
In March 2014, a Boeing 777 plane en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members when it suddenly disappeared from radar.
The plane that disappeared without a trace was never found, and several operations have been organized to find it over the years, all of which have been unsuccessful. The incident is considered one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history.
Earlier in December, Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport announced the start of new degrees at the end of the month.
Searches using marine robotics
The British-American ocean robotics company Ocean Infinity, which has announced that it will explore the seabed for 55 days starting on December 30, is responsible for the new searches.
The company has made Malaysia with the government contract, according to which it will receive a reward of 70 million dollars, or about 65 million euros, if the location of the wreckage can be located.
Ocean Infinity had time to start the search already earlier this year, but they had to be stopped in April due to bad weather.
The company has not commented on its latest search operation, and the exact location of the new search area has not been announced.
However, according to the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, the search will focus on the area where the probability of finding the plane is the highest.
The greatest searches in history
The search that started after the disappearance of flight MH370 is known as the most extensive in the history of aviation.
The multinational search operation was led by Australia in cooperation with Malaysia and China. In the southern Indian Ocean, the seabed was studied in an area of more than 120,000 square kilometers. The search was stopped in January 2017 without results.
Later in 2017, Australian researchers stated that the lack of answers for the families of the victims was a great tragedy and almost unimaginable in modern times.
In 2018, Ocean Infinity conducted a three-month search to find the plane, also unsuccessfully.
However, over the years, some aircraft parts have been found on the shores of the Indian Ocean, which have been identified as belonging to the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.
However, no human remains associated with flight MH370 have ever been found. However, all the people on board – most of whom were Chinese nationals – are presumed dead.
Over the years, the families of the missing have continued to demand answers and welcomed the relaunched search.
What happened to the machine?
The strange fate of flight MH370 has given rise to many theories about what happened to the aircraft before it went down.
Many experts believe that the plane’s pilot fooled the radar by flying between the airspace of several countries and then crashed the plane into the sea on purpose.
According to a report published in 2017 however, the reasons for the plane’s disappearance cannot be said with certainty until the plane is found.
