Messenger Screenshot Notifications: Does It Tell Them?

For several days now, people have been reporting that when they take a screenshot, appropriate information appears.

It became loud on the Internet after one of the people published a photo of a conversation with a notification about the screenshot. Initially, it was suspected that it was a typical fake or the result of using a special conversation mode. However, it turns out that other people started reporting similar situations.

A user of the X platform with the nickname “Paula281508” published information that Messenger had sent a special note in the chat about the screenshot.

It looked like this:

There was also information in the form of a separate notification:

There have been more and more posts about it for several days. Both on Reddit and Facebook. Everyone writes about the same thing – after taking a screenshot, everyone present in a given conversation receives information about it. It is not known how many people this applies to. Certainly not all of them, but it looks like it’s now coming to Poland.

Loosely translated:

“I just took a screenshot of a message from someone on Messenger and it said it was detected”

It appears that this is either a bug of some kind or a feature that is being rolled out to more and more users. Neither Facebook nor Meta itself has confirmed that it is actually rolling out this feature to everyone.

So at this point the case is quite mysterious. However, it is better to be careful when taking screenshots, because you can get really unpleasant surprises.
