The new S-Class with significant improvements

At the beginning of the year, Mercedes-Benz presented its modernized S-class limousine, which received significant improvements. According to portal jauns.lv, approximately 50% of the car has been improved, perfected or developed anew, which means around 2.5 thousand new parts or components. This is the most ambitious upgrade in the model’s history, marking the car’s 140th anniversary.

Significant improvements in the exterior and interior

The most visually noticeable changes are the 20-25% increased radiator grille, which gives visual authority, and the new generation headlights with improved LED technology, providing a wider operating range and improved visibility at night. For the first time, a production model also features an illuminated star on the hood and the Mercedes star itself. The main innovation in the cabin is the latest generation MBUX information and entertainment system, which combines the driver’s instrument panel, central touch screen and a separate passenger screen into a single digital ecosystem, giving the impression of a personalized and adaptive environment. In addition, new interior finishes and color combinations are available, providing virtually unlimited personalization options.

Technological innovation and engine offering

A new supercomputer is integrated into the car, driven by Mercedes-Benz’s own MB.OS operating system, which integrates all the car’s systems into a single ecosystem and receives updates from cloud storage. Both active and passive safety systems, as well as drivetrains, have been improved. The new power units, including the plug-in hybrid, are based on six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The S580 model is equipped with a 537 hp V8 engine. Standard equipment includes all-wheel drive (except the S450 e plug-in hybrid) and steering rear wheels for improved maneuverability.

Comfort and accessibility in Latvia

The pneumatic AIRMATIC suspension in the most complete sets is equipped with active control and an additional system that remembers uneven road surfaces and adjusts the hardness of the shock absorbers. Ride comfort and stability have also been improved, especially with rear passengers in mind, with access to video conferencing, improved climate control and even heated seat belts. It is predicted that the models of the new S-class limousine will arrive in Latvia in the middle of summer.
