Mary, a cherished figure in the heart of Shanagolden, Co. Limerick, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home on Main Street. Her legacy of warmth and guidance will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
A Life of Love and Service
Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and neighbor in Shanagolden. She lived a life dedicated to family and community. At the age of 79, her journey came to an end, leaving behind a wealth of memories and deep bonds with her loved ones.
Her Tributes and Farewell
According to the announcement, Mary was predeceased by her husband Tom and several cherished family members, including her sons Brian and Anthony, her brothers Noel, Pat, and Jim, and her son-in-law James O’Connor.
Despite her loss, Mary’s spirit will continue to live on through the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her sons Sean and Senan are deeply saddened but proud of the life she led. Her daughters Margaret O’Connell, Caitriona O’Donnell, Loretta O’Connor, Joan Fitzgerald, and Noelle O’Donnell also cherish the precious moments spent with her. Brothers John (Jack) and Gerard and her sisters-in-law Nora, Daisy, and Rose are among those who will miss her profoundly.
Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends also formed a significant part of Mary’s life. Her influence extended far beyond her immediate family, touching many in the Shanagolden community. She leaves behind a vast network of fantastic friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Final Goodbye and Commemoration
The community has gathered to pay their respects and share their memories of Mary. The viewing for Mary will take place at her own funeral home on Main Street, Shanagolden, on Sunday, January 5, from 3 pm to 7 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 6, at 1 pm at St. Senan’s Church in Shanagolden. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed. Mary will be laid to rest immediately after the service in the Shanagolden Graveyard.
It’s important to note that the house will be strictly private to the family only on Monday morning, so the community is kindly asked to respect this request.
