“We now officially have a problem”
After the elimination game against Michiel Vos, Jack Plooij is given the power to determine the fate of one of the candidates. Although he curses Mandy Woelkens, Kira claims that Morad El Ouakili was affected by the presenter. “Everyone is playing a game here, so I decided that I’m going to do that now too,” she explains on camera.
That statement immediately causes unrest within the group: are there three cursed participants for the first time? “This is just a mega bomb in the game,” Giel de Winter responds. Still, several candidates doubt Kira’s story. “Why are you so nervous when your note says someone else is cursed?” Mandy wonders out loud.
When Tanja Jess then reveals that she is also cursed, the distrust towards Kira increases further. “I do regret this lie, because I’m not good at lying and I don’t like it at all,” Kira admits. “She lied,” Jack tells Morad, after Kira confesses her strategy to him. “As far as I’m concerned, Kira needs to get out as quickly as possible. We now officially have a problem,” said Morad.
After completing the assignment, which is won by Giel, he, Tanja and Anke de Jong go to Pandora’s Box. Tanja chooses to take her own statue out of the box and curse Jack. “I think Jack cursed me, so you’ll be punished for that.” When Giel also opens the box, Jack and Morad are sent to the elimination game. “The strongest shoulders carry the heaviest burdens,” radio DJ shouts in frustration.
In a nerve-wracking duel, in which the men have to manipulate each other, Jack ultimately wins and returns to the game. “I’ve been through everything and then during the ordeal with Jack he sees through me and I succumb to my own lie. Perhaps a very wise lesson after all,” Morad concludes.
Tanja and Marijn Kuipers previously commented on the impact of the program. According to them, it was a ‘heavy’ period during the recordings:
