MCPS Scores: 2025 Maryland Report Card Results

The Maryland State Department of Education released its annual report on Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The report evaluates MCPS based on factors such as academic performance, school quality and student success. Schools are rated from 1 to 5 stars. Definitions of the performance indicators are found on the report web page.

According to MCPS, twenty-six schools moved up one star from the previous school year.

Nearly 96% of schools earned three stars or higher, a 2% increase from the previous year and above the state average of 86%.

More than half of the schools, 54%, received four or five stars, an increase of 3.5 percentage points from 2023-2024, according to the school district, and above the state average of 43%.

According to the state’s annual assessment, elementary schools overall showed improvements in academic achievement, academic progress and school quality, and student success, but did not show improvements in English language proficiency.

High schools showed improvements in all categories: academic achievement, academic progress, school quality and student success, and progress in English language proficiency.
