Celebrations continue in Mayo following a recent online Lotto jackpot win, as castlebar hairdresser Patrick Monahan has officially claimed his cheque for €255,000 from the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle promotion held on friday, May 30.

A well-known figure in the community with over 40 years of experience, it’s not Patrick’s styling skills making headlines this time, but a winning lottery ticket.

Patrick’s winning ticket was purchased spontaneously at Duffy’s Costcutter on Turlough Road, Castlebar, just before the cut-off time for the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle promotion.

patrick bought two Swift Pick tickets, one for himself and one for a close friend waiting in the car. In a twist of fate, he held out both tickets and asked, “Left hand or right?” His friend chose the right ticket, leaving Patrick with the left-hand ticket – the winning one.

“I’m absolutely thrilled”, Patrick said, still processing the news. “It’s an incredible amount of money, especially since I thought I’d won €5,000, not an extra €250,000!”

Patrick plans to celebrate with the friend who was with him that day.
