Like every May 1st, the inter -union organizes a major event in Paris. This year, the procession will start from the Place d’Italie from 2 p.m.
This Thursday, in Paris, will take place the traditional event of the May 1st, organized by the Intersyndicale. This year, the route is slightly modified, the procession will start from the 13th arrondissement, the police headquarters said in a press release.
Demonstration to nation
The demonstrators will start from the Place d’Italie at 2 p.m. They will take the boulevard de l’Hôpital to Place Valhubert. Then, head for the Pont d’Austerlitz to reach Avenue Ledru-Rollin to Avenue Daumesnil. Finally, the procession will cross Boulevard Diderot to arrive at Place de la Nation.
The Paris police prefecture indicates “that a traffic device will be set up around the event, around the places of Italy and the nation, and around the route, as the procession progresses”.
It also specifies that vehicles parked on the route where its surroundings will be “the subject of travel measures”. It therefore recommends that motorists bypass the sector from 10 a.m.
Up to 30,000 people expected
On the side of the police, this year we expect a May 1st similar to that of last year when 20,000 people had made the trip. Between 15,000 and 30,000 demonstrators are expected this Thursday in the streets of the capital and between 100,000 and 150,000 throughout the country, BFMTV learned from police source.
“Risk elements”, or people likely to create disorders, are also expected in processions. 200 to 400 of these individuals are expected in Paris.
“The risks exist but are measured” confides a police source, which says that the police will be vigilant because the May 1st remains an opportunity for the “protest movement” to express themselves by creating troubles.
In 2023, carried by the demonstrations against the pension reform, the Parisian mobilization had attracted 112,000 demonstrators.
