A Day of Solidarity: Labor Day Festivities Across Piedmont

Piedmont is set to commemorate Labor day, also known as May Day, with a diverse array of events planned throughout the region. Celebrations will take place not only in major provincial cities but also in locations holding symbolic significance for workers’ rights. [[3]]. In Fossano (Cuneo province), a gathering is scheduled for 10 AM at the “Molino Cordero” monument, a site dedicated to the victims of workplace tragedies. This event, located at the intersection of Via Paglieri and Via Torino, will feature addresses from Piertomaso Bergesio, Enrico Solavione, and Armando Dagna, the general secretaries of Cgil Cisl Uil Cuneo.

Turin‘s Traditional Procession: A Change of Route

Turin’s traditional May Day procession will proceed through the city center, albeit with a modified route this year due to ongoing construction on Via Roma.The procession is scheduled to commence at 9:30 AM from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, proceeding along Via Po, Piazza Castello, and Via Pietro Micca, culminating in piazza Solferino at 11 AM.

The final rally, organized by Cgil Cisl Uil, will feature a keynote address by Federico Bellono, secretary general of Cgil Torino. Prior to Bellono’s speech, attendees will hear from Chiara Dezzani, representing the Gioc (Christian worker youth); Arcangela di Rella, a Fim Cisl delegate from Hanon System; Gian Livio Lembo, RSU UIL FPL ASL TO4; and Maurizio Bellofote, a miner representing Fillea CGIL.

Asti: Music and Solidarity in the public Gardens

In Asti, the May Day events will begin with a gathering at 8:30 AM at the Way Assauto club. From there, participants will depart at 9 AM, accompanied by the Giuseppe Cotti music band, en route to the public gardens. The procession, slated to begin around 9:45 AM, will traverse Viale Vittoria, Piazza Primo Maggio, and Corso Alfieri before concluding in Piazza Statuto.

Speeches are scheduled for 10:45 AM, featuring Stefano Calella, assistant secretary of Cisl Alessandria-Asti; Giovanni Rubolino, secretary of uil Asti-Cuneo; and Giorgio Airaudo, general secretary of Cgil Piedmont.

Valenza: A Civic Celebration of Labor

Valenza, located in the province of Alessandria, will commence its Labor Day observances at 9:30 AM in Piazza XXXI Martiri. At 10 AM, a procession will begin, proceeding along Corso Garibaldi to the Gardens of Viale Oliva.

The event will include greetings from Valenza’s mayor,Maurizio Oddone,and the president of the province of Alessandria,Luigi Benzi. The concluding rally will feature Ivana Veronese, national confederal secretary of UIL, preceded by remarks from Franco Armosino, Secretary General of CGIL Alessandria, and Marco Ciani, Secretary General of Cisl Alessandria-Asti.

Novara and Romagnano Sesia: processions and Rallies

Novara’s May day events will begin with a gathering at 9:30 AM in Piazza Cavour. The procession is scheduled to arrive in Piazza Gramsci, where the final rally will be held. The rally will feature a speech by regional secretary of Uil, Chiara maffè, preceded by introductions from Romina baccaglio, confederal secretary of Cisl Piedmont eastern, and Chiara corbellini, confederal secretary of Cgil Novara vco.

In Romagnano Sesia,also in the province of Novara,a traditional procession will commence at 9:45 AM,winding through the town’s streets accompanied by the city band. Following a floral tribute to the monument of the fallen in Piazza XVI March and to the plaque of Giuseppe Giustina in Piazza Libertà, addresses will be given by representatives of the municipal administration and Emanuele Pitzalis, a trade union representative from CGIL, speaking on behalf of CGIL, CISL, and Uil.

Verbano Cusio ossola: Domodossola Gathering

In Verbano cusio Ossola, the May Day event will take place in Domodossola. The city procession will assemble at 9:30 AM in front of the railway station, with the event concluding in Piazza Repubblica dell’Ossola 1. Michele Piffero, confederal secretary of Cgil novara Vco, will moderate the proceedings.

Vercelli and Borgosesia: Musical Accompaniment and Civic Engagement

Vercelli’s May Day events will commence with a gathering at 10 AM at the intersection of Corso Libertà and Viale Garibaldi. The procession will depart at 10:30 AM, accompanied by the “Luigi Arditi” musical band of Crescentino, and arrive in Piazza zumaglini.

The mayor of Vercelli, Roberto Card, will deliver a greeting at 10:40 AM, followed by a concluding address at 11 AM by Francesco Lo Grasso of the Uil Piedmont secretariat, speaking on behalf of Cgil Cisl Uil.

Borgosesia will also host a May Day event, with a gathering scheduled for 10 AM in Piazza Martiri (Giardini side). The procession will depart at 10:30 AM, accompanied by the wind orchestra of the city of Borgosesia, and conclude at 11 AM.The final rally will feature Emilio Capacchione, Secretary General of Fai Cisl Piedmont, speaking on behalf of Cgil Cisl Uil.

Biella: Procession and Evening Concert

In Biella, the city procession will convene at 9:30 AM in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, with the procession commencing at 10 AM. The procession is scheduled to arrive at 11 AM at the Zumaglini Gardens, where the final rally will be held. Luca Caretti, secretary general of Cisl Piedmont, will speak on behalf of Cgil Cisil Uil.

The Giuseppe Verdi procession of Biella will lead the procession, with the Cossatese Philharmonic bringing up the rear. An evening concert by the Giuseppe Verdi musical company will be held at 9 PM at the Auditorium Città Studi.
