Fans of Max Verstappen can enjoy the Dutchman in motorsport for many years to come. He announced this during the press conference for the Chinese Grand Prix – which is scheduled for this weekend on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
Although Verstappen has indicated that he does not want to remain active in motorsport until he is forty, he has now made it clear that he wants to see a lot of action in and outside Formula 1 in the coming years. His contract with Red Bull Racing runs until the end of 2028, with De Telegraaf reporting earlier this month that the Austrian team is attempting to have the Limburger extended – most likely until the end of 2030.
But in addition to Formula 1, Verstappen will be very active in motorsport in the coming years. That starts this year, with him competing twice at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Next weekend, Verstappen will take part in NLS2, in which he will prepare for the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, which is scheduled for May 14 to 17.
The Dutchman said the following about this at the F1 press conference in Shanghai: “It’s one of the best races and tracks in the world. The car I’m going to race has the perfect speed, if you go even faster it becomes more dangerous. Many friends have driven there, they say it’s the best experience, and I like driving other types of cars”said Max, who will drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3 car at the Nürburgring.
And the Dutchman also has very good news for his fans. The 24 Hours of the Nürburgring is not the only motorsport event that can be seen in the coming years. Preparations are already being made for a real ‘Orange Grandstand’ in the German Eifel, but that cannot happen at other well-known endurance races. Verstappen also wants to participate in this – which means he will see a lot of action in motorsport in the coming years.
“I want to do all the big endurance races. I don’t just have to be an F1 driver, I can be more. I have already achieved what I wanted to achieve here, I want to explore other options and I want to do that now, not when I am 40. I am the perfect age now,” said the Limburger.
