Matt Berninger, best known as the lead singer of The National, recently captivated audiences with an eerie and blues-infused cover of Radiohead’s iconic song, ‘Kid A’. The performance took place in Los Angeles during his current solo tour.

Berninger is currently on tour promoting his second solo album, ‘Get Sunk’, scheduled for release on friday, May 30, via Book/Concord. Fans can pre-order or pre-save the album here.

During his show at the Palace Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 21, Berninger surprised the crowd by opening his encore with a unique interpretation of the 2000 track by Thom Yorke and his bandmates. This song has become a recurring highlight in Berninger’s recent performances.

Berninger’s deep, baritone voice brought a new, chilling dimension to the song, contrasting with the original’s processed vocal effects. The performance was further enhanced by the haunting twangs of a lone guitar.

Following the US leg of his tour, which began in Seattle on May 19, Berninger will take his solo show to Europe in August, with performances scheduled in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, and London.
