Kole Mathison advances to NCAA Championships in Steeplechase

Mathison secures a spot in Eugene after a personal best performance; Bouchard sidelined with injury.

Kole Mathison (Carmel,Ind./Carmel) will compete in the NCAA Championships after a stellar showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor track and field Regional Championships on Friday. The event took place in COLLEGE STATION.

Mathison achieved a personal record of 8:32.74, finishing sixth in his heat. This performance earned him an at-large qualifying position based on his extraordinary time.

noah Bouchard also participated on Friday but had to withdraw from the high jump event due to an apparent injury.

Looking ahead,three athletes will conclude their participation in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Regional Championships on Saturday. They aim to join Nick Bianco (decathlon) and Mathison (3,000m steeplechase) in the NCAA Championships in Eugene, ore., scheduled for June 11-14.

Riley Ward is set to compete in the high jump. Jessie Secor and Katie Baeuerle will participate in the 5,000-meter run.

Fans were able to stream the action live on ESPN+.

Mathison clocked a personal best of 8:32.74 to finish sixth in his heat, securing an at-large qualifying spot based on time.
