Rest in Peace: Mary DeValera, Beloved Wife and Loving Mother

Late of Pairc DeValera, Thomondgate, Limerick.

Pleasant Departure: A Life Well Lived

Mary DeValera peacefully passed away on January 2nd, 2025, in the tender care of the Shannon Ward and Aisling Unit at St. Camillus’ Hospital. Her life was marked by love and devotion, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Legacy of Love

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Peter (Petie). She was the protective and nurturing mother of three children: Marian, Peter, and Derek. Her family grew with the addition of her son-in-law Sean and daughters-in-law Antoinette and Gillian, and was further enriched by her ten adored grandchildren.

Mary’s love extended beyond her immediate family to her sisters Phyllis and Eleanor, her brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Final Parting

Preceding Mary in death were her brothers and sister, but their memories continue to cherish the bond they shared. May she rest in peace, finding solace and eternal rest.

Memorial Arrangements

To honor Mary’s memory, a viewing will be held at Griffin’s Funeral Home, located on John’s Gate, on Sunday, January 5th, from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. Her funeral procession will depart from the funeral home on Monday, January 6th, arriving at St. Munchin’s Church, Clancy Strand. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12 PM, with burial to follow at Mount St. Lawrence (Ext.) Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Camillus’ Activity Centre. This will allow them to continue providing support and care to others who need it, much like Mary did.
