During PlayStation’s State of Play event, fans of Marvel fighting games received an unexpected surprise: Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC and PS5. the game is being developed by Arc System Works (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue), rather than Capcom, the studio behind many previous Marvel titles in the genre.

notably, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be a 4v4 tag-team fighting game, showcasing tokusatsu-inspired designs for its extensive roster of familiar characters.

Unique Gameplay Mechanics

according to game director and lead battle designer Kazuto Sekine, “Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters,” He added, “But for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls you only need to master one character in order to play the game. We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either conventional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together-creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience.”
