Singer and songwriter Marta Grigale has released a new single, which also announced the release of her third studio album. Although lately Marta has been aiming more at the international market – and successfully! -, she has not forgotten her domestic fans as well, announcing a concert in Riga.
Martha’s new studio album is called “Wrong Woman (According to the Rule Book)”, and with it, the single “Rule Book” has been submitted to the audience for evaluation, which was made with British artist, co-writer of the song Ruby Duff, co-writer and producer Jim Lawton and mixing, mastering engineer Christopher Harris.
“There are unwritten norms and rules in society, which are not inherently bad, because otherwise anarchy would start. But sometimes it’s worth looking at these rules with a critical eye and asking yourself if you really agree with them. I hope that the irony and energy of “Rule Book” will give listeners the confidence to live by their own rules, not others’, says Marta about the new song.
The sound of the new songs and also the whole album is according to the best Western standards, but about the album another time – this time about Marta’s success in the international arena. Namely, her latest performance has also been praised by one of the world’s most influential radio stations, “BBC Radio 1”, premiering the song “Villain of the Day” in the “Future Pop” program. Jody Bryant, the host of the program, said briefly: “I just love him!”. Also of note was the inclusion of the song “Cool” in the US series “Love Island Games”, as well as publications in several international media, including “Wonderland Magazine”, which praises Marta’s “catchy melodies and skillful lyrics”. Cooperation with US music synchronization agencies and British music distribution and management companies has been started, so it is no wonder that the musician also received a GAMMA nomination in the “Music Export of the Year” category for her work in the past year.
However, Marta has not forgotten her listeners at home either – on September 25, her solo concert is expected in the Spīķeru concert hall, where the new album and the audience’s favorite songs in Latvian will be performed together with the band.
