Jakarta, tvOnenews.com – Indonesian U-23 national team coach, Indra Sjafri, ensures the name Marselino Ferdinan remains part of the Garuda Muda squad for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. This was revealed by Indra when leading an open training session at the Madya Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Friday (3/10/2025).

According to him, the young midfielder who is now working at the Slovakia club, US Trenin, includes a list of players submitted to the committee.

“(Marselino) has not been called, not called. He entered the 50 players we registered and we opened the 50 players who were registered,” Indra Sjufri told you the media.

Previously, Marselino’s position had been in the spotlight after his name was not included by Patrick Kluivert into the Indonesian senior national team squad that will compete in the fourth round of the 2026 Asian Zone Qualifiers to face Saudi Arabia and Iraq next week.

Since making an international debut in January 2022 against Timor Leste, Marselino has almost never been absent from defending Red and White. Until now, the 21 -year -old player has recorded 37 caps with the senior national team with a score of five goals and two assists.

However, lately his physical condition is a concern. He was called to two FIFA Match Day matches in Surabaya last month, but finally absent. Indonesian national team manager, Sumardji, revealed that Marselino was still undergoing a recovery of a hamstring injury.

“Marselino yesterday I met him in therapy. He was still a healing process because of hamstring when the last time against Lebanon (FIFA Match Day),” Sumardji said at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Thursday (2/10/2025).

Marselino itself has sweet memories in the SEA Games. Two years ago, in Cambodia, he became one of the important actors of Indonesia’s success in winning a gold medal after a 32 -year -old long wait. In the tournament, Marselino appeared five times as a starter, scoring two goals and one assist, including performing in full in the final when Garuda Muda defeated Thailand with a score of 5-2.
