The Passing of Marlene Wogan: A Community Tribute

Ard Brae Park, Baylough and the late Beaupark, Navan, lost a cherished member with the recent passing of Marlene Wogan. Her tenure in these communities was marked by warmth and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A Peaceful Departure

Marlene Wogan passed away on January 31st, 2024, at the South Westmeath Hospice. Her peaceful departure was noted to be under the tender care of dedicated hospice staff, offering both solace and compassion during her final days.

Loved by Many

Marlene’s life was deeply intertwined with her family and the wider community. She leaves behind a legacy of love, characterized by the support she received and the joy she brought to many. Predeceased by her parents, Veronica and Joe Wogan, Marlene was survived by her partner, Paddy, as well as her sister, Emer, and brother, Derek.

Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family to encompass the Daly, Duffy, and Mangan family members, including her nieces and nephews. She was also beloved by neighbours, friends, and members of the Galway Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, underscoring her dedication to community service and animal welfare.

Services to Celebrate Her Life

The family and community are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Marlene’s memory during the viewing hours at Strand Funeral Home. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm, providing an opportunity to share stories and memories of this remarkable woman.

Her funeral Mass, a Mass of Resurrection, will take place on Monday at 12 pm in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church. The service will be a fitting tribute to Marlene’s life and values, followed by a graveside burial in Kiltoom Cemetery.

For those unable to attend the Mass in person, the Funeral Mass will be streamed live. You can tune into this virtual ceremony via https://churchservices.tv/athlone. This will provide a means for distant friends and family members to participate in honoring Marlene.
