Marcel Hirscher Finances: $200M Deficit Revealed

by Archynetys Sports Desk

Recently, Hirscher announced that he and his girlfriend Lucy have married in an unconventional way, at home in their own living room.

Business-wise, however, things are not going so well.

Last winter, the Austrian made a comeback, five years after he quit, for the Netherlands.

The strange comeback was admittedly short-lived when he injured his knee in training after only three races in the World Cup.

The alpine legend, who has eight World Cup titles in total (large crystal balls), is still not giving up and is training for a new season.

Got Norwegian stars

In his five-year break from sports, he started the ski brand “Van Deer”, to which he signed several big stars such as Henrik Kristoffersen and Timon Haugan.

Hirscher also made a comeback on skis himself last winter.

The technical specialist owns 44 percent of the ski company, while the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull is the majority owner with its 51 percent. The last four percent is owned by Hirscher’s longtime friend, Dominic Tritscher.

According to the economics magazine “Trend”, the annual accounts for 2024 show a deficit of 17.9 million euros, which corresponds to over 200 million Norwegian kroner.

The information has been reproduced by the Swiss major newspaper Blick.

This is more than three times the deficit from the previous year, which was 5.7 million euros.

New factory

According to the magazine, the deficit is due to major investments the company has made in the past year. Among other things, they have built a new factory, which will produce around 30,000 pairs of skis a year.

Kristoffersen and Haugan were some of the first alpinists to sign for Van Deer in 2022, and since the transition from Rossignol and Head, they have recorded five and four victories respectively in the World Cup.
