Prior to the agreement between Cunha and Manchester United, Paul Scholes questioned where Cunha would fit into head coach Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup.

The former England international also implied that even world-class players might find it challenging to make a meaningful impact at Manchester United, especially after their 15th-place finish in the Premier League and defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham.

In his TNT Sports column from late April, Scholes commented: “He looks like he’s got the attributes that Ruben Amorim wants. He knows that physically,his team are just not strong or speedy enough,so Matheus Cunha is obviously athletic,and he’s got quality with 15 league goals this season.”
