Mali Security Risks: US Orders Staff Departure

by Archynetys Economy Desk

The US State Department announced Friday that it had authorized the departure of non-essential government personnel and their family members present in Mali, citing security risks in the West African country.

“The U.S. government cannot provide routine or emergency services to U.S. citizens outside of Bamako due to security risks,” the State Department said in a statement.

The alert level for travel to Mali remains set at 4, or “do not travel”.
