With striker Phillip Tietz, 1. FSV Mainz 05 has already completed a winter transfer with the aim of staying in the league, and more are to follow. The “SWR” brings an old friend from the Bundesliga into play. Accordingly, the focus is on ex-Stuttgart native Borna Sosa. The current VfB professional Silas is also still an issue. Defender Konstantin Schopp, on the other hand, should be given up for the time being.

Sosa could therefore fit the profile of a rail player. There is a need there as Anthony Caci has been missing on the right side for some time due to a thigh injury and has suffered a setback in rehab. On the left, Phillipp Mwene is still out due to a muscle injury. Sosa would be an option especially for the left. The 27-year-old has been active for Crystal Palace since last summer, but has only made twelve appearances there. In the Premier League he is almost not a factor at all. Financially, Sosa is only likely to be on loan; the Croatian is tied to the Eagles until 2028. It cost them 2.3 million euros. As “Sky” reports, Sosa is currently not thinking about a change despite limited playing time.
Silas has been traded on the right wing for a few days now. Hannover 96 is also said to have shown interest in the 27-year-old, but withdrew from the race and presented Noah Weißhaupt instead. According to “Sky”, VfB is currently waiting for a new offer from Mainz at Silas, and negotiations should be ongoing. A first without a transfer fee with bonuses in the summer is said to have been rejected. According to reports, the Swabians are demanding around 1.5 million euros for the Congolese, whose working paper ends in the summer.

Schopp at Mainz 05 before loan: “We receive a lot of inquiries”
Summer newcomer Schopp has not yet played a role for Rheinhessen and is a candidate for a loan. The 20-year-old central defender, who came from Sturm Graz II on a free transfer, has so far only played for the second team in the Regionalliga Südwest. “We are receiving a lot of inquiries. We are currently looking to see whether he can get six months of higher-quality match practice somewhere else,” quoted the “Kicker” sports director Niko Bungert. Schopp had signed with the Zero Fives until 2029. According to Austrian media, one applicant is Blau-Weiß Linz with German coach Michael Köllner.
