New Hampshire authorities announced Tuesday that a woman wanted for the murder of her mother-in-law in Exeter was recently arrested in Maine.Danielle Kelsen, 55, was taken into custody in Southwest Harbor on an arrest warrant charging her with second-degree murder in the death of Janet Kelsen, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.Janet Kelsen, 88, was found dead by Exeter police on Feb. 9 in a unit at a home at 133 Front St.An autopsy revealed that Janet Kelsen suffered blunt force injuries and the nature of her death was “not natural,” officials said.The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said Danielle Kelsen recklessly caused her mother-in-law’s death by inflicting blunt force trauma to her head.Danielle Kelsen has also been charged with wiretapping and eavesdropping, as authorities accused her of willfully using an electronic device to intercept oral communications between herself and her mother-in-law.After a preliminary hearing on being a fugitive from justice, Kelsen is scheduled to appear in Maine’s Ellsworth District Court on Dec. 10 for a hearing on the issue of extradition to New Hampshire.Authorities said after Kelsen is extradited to New Hampshire, she is expected to be arraigned at the 10th Circuit Court — Brentwood District Division.The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said the Maine State Police provided valuable assistance in safely effecting the arrest.
