Mahomes & Kelce: Chiefs’ Duo Dominates | NFL Highlights

Travis Kelce scores the 83rd touchdown of his career to join Priest Holmes at the top in Chiefs history.

Patrick Mahomes helped his great accomplice Travis Kelce move into a tie for the Kansas City Chiefs‘ all-time lead in touchdowns in a 28-7 win over the Washington Commanders.

In the third quarter, the Chiefs star spotted the tight end 10 yards and he was able to maintain possession of the ball in the end zone despite tight defensive coverage down the stretch.

With the 83rd touchdown of his career, Kelce joined Priest Holmes in this chapter in the history of the Chiefs.

Mahomes had another strong game with three touchdown passes, all thrown in the second half. In addition to Kelce, Kareem Hunt was his target on a fourth down at the goal gate. In his second game of the season, Rashee Rice scored his third major of the campaign with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to put the game significantly out of reach for the Commanders.

The game, however, didn’t give the impression that the Chiefs offensive unit was going to stand out for the right reasons.

After an interception by the Kansas City defense, Mahomes threw two interceptions of his own, including one while targeting Kelce, but the ball escaped the tight end and ended up in the hands of Bobby Wagner for the turnover.

The Chiefs opened the scoring in the second quarter with the help of Hunt who ran the missing yard to score the first six points of the game.

In the absence of Jayden Daniels, Marcus Mariota was once again behind center for the Commanders for this game. The quarterback can thank Terry McLaurin for an equalizing touchdown a few minutes later with a nice 11-yard catch.

The Chiefs, however, responded with 21 consecutive points to sign their fifth win of the season. The Commanders, on the other hand, suffered a fifth defeat in their eighth game.

Mahomes joined Dan Marino with a 46th game in which he threw three touchdown passes in his first nine seasons in the league. These are peaks in history. The Chiefs quarterback finished his evening with 299 yards.

Kelce, for his part, stood out with 99 yards on six catches.

Mariota had two interceptions and completed 21 of 30 passes in the loss.

The Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills next Sunday. The Commanders will be in action Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
