Nicolás Maduro, declared president by the electoral entity of Venezuela after the questioned 2024 elections, said Friday (05.09.2025) that if his country was attacked “he would go to an armed staging stage”, in a context in which he denounces “threats” from the United States.

According to Maduro, the American Navy carries out a military deployment in the Caribbean sea waters, close to the Venezuelan coasts, under the argument of combating drug trafficking.

The Chavista leader indicated that Venezuela is “still in the unin -armed struggle phase, which is a political, communicational, institutional phase,” but, he added, if “it was attacked, in some way, it would go to an armed, planned, organized staging stage of all the people against aggression, be local, regional or national.”

“We would go to an armed staging, in defense of peace, territorial integrity, sovereignty and our people,” added the Chavista leader in an act of activation of citizen militias, broadcast by the Venezuelan state television (VTV) state channel.

He also noted that the country is in the “phase of enlistment and preparation” in defense of Venezuela and will go to the “deployment of defensive, training and resentment capacities of the entire Venezuelan population.”

He also said that the people of Venezuela are “pacifist”, but “warrior” and that “nobody” will “come to enslave” or “today or ever.”

Threat to the Maduro government

In this way, Maduro began the first day of “operational, organizational activation, of the entire Bolivarian National Militia (MNB), already structured, of the citizens who enlisted in the first two days”, carried out in August, in defense of Venezuela before the “threats” that denounces by the United States.

Earlier, the Chancellor of Venezuela, Yván Gil, said that the deployment of United States aircraft threatens the Maduro government, after the North American country ordered that ten F-35 combat ships heading to an air base in Puerto Rico as part of the operation ordered by Washington to combat drug trafficking in the Caribbean.

In a telephone contact with VTV, the Foreign Minister reiterated that the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, justifies the military deployment “using as a pretext an alleged persecution against drug trafficking,” including, mentioned that the Venezuelan Government trafficked with drugs, but, he added, this is “the biggest lie.”

The United States has deployed eight military ships with missiles and a nuclear propulsion submarine in areas of the Caribbean Sea close to the coast of Venezuela to combat drug trafficking that ensures “pollute” the streets of their country.
