The balance of Christmas Eve in the Community of Madrid ends with fewer calls to Emergency 112, but with more traffic accidents compared to last year, although none of them were serious. From the service They describe the day as “calm.” In the capital, Samur-Civil Protection had to assist around twenty people for alcohol poisoning and another twenty for assaults, while municipal firefighters had to help several people trapped in elevators. Likewise, among the events, tonight’s day leaves two tragic deaths, in Vallecas and Chamberí.

“It has been a relatively calm night. At the 112 Emergency Center there have been 5% fewer incidents”, explained the service spokesperson, Pilar Rodríguez, this Thursday when pointing out the alerts received. Between 00:00 and 09:00 on December 25, 1,747 calls were answered, while a year ago the volume of calls was 1,846 in the same period.

Depending on the reasons for the calls, Traffic accidents have increased during this day, with 37 warnings, 68% more that a year ago, although, “none of them have been serious,” the Emergency spokesperson detailed. For their part, attacks have decreased by 15% compared to 137 alerts, 57% of calls related to fires have occurred, with 16; and alcohol poisoning fell by 24%, with 50 interventions.

On the other hand, in the capital Samur-Civil Protection intervened in 373 cases and the Local Police in 2,070, while municipal firefighters responded to 83 alerts. “It has been a night with fewer interventions than other years, comparable to a normal day,” they have pointed out from Emergencies Madrid. Of the total interventions, the health workers attended 19 alcohol poisonings, 20 assaults and 13 traffic accidents, one of them with injuries. The collision occurred between two cars on the M-31 at around 7:00 p.m. The team had to rescue one of the drivers, a 31-year-old man who “was trapped and seriously injured.” The injured man required stabilization and intubation before being transferred to the 12 de Octubre hospital. There were two people in the other vehicle, one of whom did not need to be sent and the other was sent to Gregorio Marañón.

The Madrid City Council firefighters had to move to put out 10 garbage containers, rescue 16 people trapped in elevators and intervene in eight fires. For its part, the Local Police inspected 43 premises in the capital and received 276 complaints about noise in homes and 28 in premises. Action was also taken in 196 cases of consumption on public roads.

During the night there were two serious altercations. A 17-year-old boy died in Vallecas after being stabbed. The same thing happened in Chamberí, in this case a 63-year-old man. In the first case, around 2:00 a.m. the emergency services and the Police moved to Lagartera Street in Puente de Vallecas due to the report of a brawl. Upon arrival they found the young man in cardiorespiratory arrest after receiving several stab wounds. The paramedics proceeded to perform CPR, although the victim died from his injuries.

“The relationship with a youth band is one of the lines of research, although nothing is ruled out,” they have detailed from the National Police. The agents deployed a special device to locate the two perpetrators. This operation has concluded with the arrest of both suspects, a 19-year-old man and another 21-year-old man. The Provincial Information Brigade and Homicide Group VI take charge of the investigation to clarify the motives. Hours later, in Chamberí around 05:40 a.m. a 63-year-old man died in the street Alonso Cano due to several stab wounds.
