Made in Mexico Pharma: New Label Authorized by Government

The Ministry of Economy gave the green light for the laboratories affiliated with the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Laboratories (AMELAF) use the “Made in Mexico” distinction, a recognition with which they seek to highlight the production, research and industrial capacity of the national pharmaceutical sector.

This seal reinforces the commitment to a more competitive, technological industry with a Mexican identity. Thus, the 45 laboratories with 100% Mexican capital grouped together, AMELAFcelebrate this achievement as a strategic step to consolidate their presence in the country’s productive network.

“At AMELAF we proudly assume this distinction, which recognizes the quality of what we produce in the country and reaffirms our commitment to competitive and world-class Mexican manufacturing,” said Juan de Villafranca, executive president of AMELAF.

According to the executive, this distinction, beyond being a symbolic recognition, represents a tool to promote local production, since it will allow make pharmaceutical products manufactured with Mexican talent visiblesupporting the national value chain and consolidating the country’s health sovereignty.

The authorization, furthermore, is consistent with the industrial strategy promoted by the Ministry of Economy, whose central axis is to reinforce economic well-being through the consumption of national goods.

In the statement, AMELAF added that this authorization is concrete support for its mission: to promote innovation, the development of drugs with Mexican technology and the generation of specialized jobs. Also highlighted is the continuous link with COFEPRIS and the health sector in a permanent dialogue to improve access to medicines.
