This strategic step aims to reduce production costs and at the same time maintain enough performance for students, content consumers and productivity tasks. In contrast to the MacBooks with Intel or Apple M series chip, the A18 Pro model is expected to be passively cooled and have a fanless housing that is closely based on the aesthetics of the MacBook Air. A revised cooling design and possibly less input/outputs will reflect the lower energy requirement of the smartphone chip.

Visually, the notebook remains equipped with a 13-inch screen and a unibody housing, but will appear in a series of colors that are based on the pallet of Apple’s latest iMacs. The selection of colors is expected to include silver, blue, pink and yellow.

In the single-core benchmarks, the A18 Pro can even keep up with the latest M4 chip, even if it lags behind during the multi-core throughput. This makes the notebook for tasks such as processing documents, surfing on the Internet, video playback and the use of easier apps and will offer an enormously long battery life.

Apple is reportedly planning to start mass production at the end of 2025 and bring the device to the market shortly afterwards. The company is based on the fact that the new entry class MacBook will boost sales on the declining PC market.
