Bridging Cultures: An Educational Journey to Beijing

In a move to enhance linguistic proficiency and foster intercultural understanding, a group of students from the “Dall’Alz” linguistic high school in Feltre recently embarked on an immersive language stay in Beijing. From March 31st to april 16th, 23 students, accompanied by professors Alessandra Ballon and Lianlian But, participated in an enriching program hosted by Capital Normal University.

Experiencing China: Beyond the Textbook

the program extended beyond traditional classroom learning, providing students with a firsthand experience of Chinese culture. The students lived as university students, attending morning classes and dining in the university canteen. afternoons were dedicated to exploring beijing, balancing visits to historical landmarks with explorations of the city’s modern districts. this approach allowed students to witness the dynamic interplay between tradition and innovation that defines contemporary China.

According to recent statistics, study abroad programs substantially improve language acquisition and cultural sensitivity.A study by the Institute for International Education found that students who study abroad are more likely to demonstrate advanced language skills and a deeper understanding of global issues.

Developing a Global Perspective

The initiative aimed to provide students with the tools and experiences necessary to form their own informed perspectives on China, a nation often studied but not always fully understood in its relationship with the West. This holistic approach sought to cultivate a nuanced understanding of China’s complexities and its role in the global landscape.

The high school emphasizes its commitment to promoting intercultural understanding and fostering a global perspective among its students.
