Muhammadiyah.or.id, yogyakarta – Tarjih Council and Tajdid Muhammadiyah Central Leaders announced that on Sunday until Monday, 15-16 Rabiulawal 1447 H coincided with 7-8 September 2025 AD, a total lunar eclipse would occur that could be witnessed throughout Indonesia.
The phases of the total lunar eclipse are as follows:
- Penumbra Eclipse Start: 22:28 WIB
- Partial Eclipse Starting: 23:27 WIB
- Total Eclipse Starting: 00:30 WIB
- Eclipse Peak: 01:11 WIB
- Total eclipse ends: 01:52 WIB
- Partial Eclipse Ends: 02:56 WIB
- Penumbra Eclipse Ends: 03:55 WIB
In this regard, Muhammadiyah recalls the people to perform the eclipse (Khusuf Salat), to increase their prayers, remembrance, and charity as a form of submission to God.
The solemn solemn policy is sourced from the authentic hadith. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:
The sun and the moon are two verses of God, do not lose sight of the death of anyone, nor for his life
“Indeed, the sun and moon are two signs of the signs of the greatness of God. Both do not experience eclipses because of death or life of someone. So if you see it, immediately perform prayers.” (HR. Muslim and An-Nasā’ī)
The lunar eclipse prayer is carried out since the beginning of the eclipse (when a partial eclipse starts) until the end of the eclipse or the monthly moon in their respective regions.
