During the press conference, Luka Dončić he commented on the last minutes of the match, when the Lakers – ahead by four with three minutes left before the siren – were unable to close the match: «We missed a couple of good shots late on. Then I went out for fouls, it hadn’t happened in a long time [terza volta in carriera, NDR]. And I can’t foul the three-pointer.”
The reference is to the attempt from beyond the arc of Kevin Porter Jr.on which Dončić committed his sixth foul: “I do not believe [Porter Jr.] you shoot like that, but the ref said it was a foul, so I guess it was a foul.”
The number 77 of the yellow and purple then indicated himself as one of the turning points of the match: «I could have performed better, definitely. My shot didn’t go in today. I could have attempted better conclusions. I wish I could have performed better than that.”
When questioned about the possible impact of some possible fouls suffered in the paint, not sanctioned by the referees, the Slovenian removed all doubts: «No, it didn’t affect me. I missed shots that I usually hit. I train the floaters in the paint a lot. Simply put, today was a terrible day for me.”
In a negative context, Dončić highlighted a positive aspect: chemistry with Jaxson Hayesamong the protagonists of the comeback in the fourth period: «I love playing with him, always. We have great chemistry on the pick-and-roll. He has improved in everything. I’m really happy he’s with us.”
