A Sardinian Serenade: Carroccia’s “Emotions” Arrives in Sassari
Gianmarco Carroccia, a dedicated interpreter of Lucio Battisti’s timeless music, is bringing his acclaimed show, “Emotions,” to the Teatro Comunale in Sassari this Saturday, April 12th. Presented by the Battor Association, with Christian Luisi’s artistic direction, and the Iocentro Association, under Antonio Paoni’s guidance, the performance marks Carroccia’s debut in Sardinia.
Carroccia expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming performance, stating,”I am happy because it is the first time I come to Sardinia. We had been trying for some time, and we succeeded. I hope to be in Cagliari soon.”
Preserving the Sound,Honoring the Masters
Carroccia’s approach is rooted in authenticity and respect. He strives to recreate the original sound of Battisti’s recordings, focusing on the listener’s experience. “Even the sound is that of the songs that we all listened to and that we all know,” Carroccia explains, “because I put myself on the side of the listener then of the executor. I have been doing it for years because I want to spread the beauty of these songs, with the utmost respect for two large artists.”
Lucio Battisti, who passed away in 1998, remains one of Italy’s most beloved and influential singer-songwriters. His collaboration with lyricist Mogol produced a string of hits that continue to resonate with audiences of all ages. Their innovative approach to songwriting, blending pop, rock, and folk elements, set a new standard for Italian music.
I listened to Lucio Battisti the first time at 4 years old. I didn’t stop, indeed the thing that has always struck me, is that every new song surprised me because he and Mogol never repeated. Extraordinary.Gianmarco Carroccia
A Generational Bridge: Battisti’s Music Finds New Ears
The “Emotions” show aims to connect with audiences on a deeply emotional level, fostering a sense of shared experience through music. carroccia emphasizes the interactive nature of his performances, describing them as “pure sharing” where the audience sings along from beginning to end.
Notably, Carroccia has observed a growing number of young people attending his concerts, suggesting a renewed interest in Battisti’s music among younger generations. “And I must say that compared to some time ago the percentage of young spectators is always higher. Which I’m glad because two artists so deserve all this,” he notes.
This resurgence in popularity highlights the enduring appeal of Battisti’s work and its ability to transcend generational boundaries. In an era dominated by fleeting trends, Battisti’s music continues to offer a timeless quality that resonates with listeners of all ages.
