Luca de Meo, the general director of French car manufacturer Renault, will step down from his position “to dedicate new challenges outside the auto industry,” the company announced this Sunday. The news confirms an earlier report by the newspaper Le figaro,according to Agerpres.

The renault group stated that “After five years at the leadership of the Renault group, Luca de meo announced its decision to resign.” His departure will be “effective on July 15”.

According to Le Figaro, France Presse reports that Luca de Meo is expected to become the general director of the multinational Kering group, which specializes in luxury products.
