Table of Contents
The Beaufort Memorial Collins Birthing Center welcomed three additions on Christmas Day, with families from Ridgeland, Okatie and Beaufort taking home “tiny reindeer,” just in time for the New Year.
Baby Isabella was born at 3:25 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces to Sarah Leger and Ryan Ennis of Okatie, while Briana and Kenneth Poole of Ridgeland welcomed baby Hadley at 8:17 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Beaufort parents Debora Bocardo and Asael Sanchez brought home baby Amsi, born at 10:24 p.m. and weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
Reindeer swaddles were crocheted by Birthing Center nurse Victoria Mayo, RN, and the holiday quilt was gifted by the Sea Island Quilters.
The Society of Bluffton Artists announces “Large Art” Exhibition, Jan. 5 – Feb. 2
The Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) invites the public to experience “Large Art,” a bold and visually striking exhibition running Jan. 5 through Feb. 2 at the SOBA Gallery, located at 6 Church Street in Old Town Bluffton.
This dynamic show features oversized works by SOBA member artists who embrace scale as part of the creative process. From vibrant abstracts to expressive mixed media and contemporary compositions, Large Art highlights how working big can unlock new energy, movement, and storytelling in art.
“Large Art allows our artists to push boundaries—physically and creatively,” said Karen Richards, president of SOBA. “These pieces demand attention and invite viewers to step closer, linger longer, and truly engage.”
Art With a Purpose: Supporting SOBA’s Next Chapter
In addition to celebrating large-format artwork, this exhibition carries special significance for the organization. SOBA is currently raising donations to secure a new, permanent home, ensuring the nonprofit can continue supporting local artists, hosting exhibitions, and serving as a cultural anchor in Bluffton for years to come.
Proceeds from artwork sales, along with direct donations during the exhibition, will help fund SOBA’s relocation efforts. Visitors are encouraged to support not only the artists on the walls, but the future of the arts community itself.
“SOBA has long been a creative heartbeat of Old Town Bluffton,” Richards said. “As we look toward our next home, community support is more important than ever.”

If you’re seeking a calm and steady presence in your home this Christmas, Jamie might just be the perfect fit. As he is FELV+, he will need to either be the only cat in your world or share space with other calm/non-dominant FELV+ cats. When you are ready for the perfect stocking stuffer, Jamie will be waiting for you by the fire. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

Clifford the big red (and black) dog! At two-and-a-half years old, this big boy is looking for his very own Emily to spend the holidays with. Despite his large size, Clifford is very gentle in nature and well mannered. He never meets a stranger, whether it’s a human or another animal, he’s always ready to shake their paw!
