HTH Kjøkken closes down in Sørlandet.
On Tuesday, bankruptcy was opened in the kitchen suppliers HTH Kristiansand and HTH Arendal at the Agder district court, according to announcements in the Brønnøysund registers.
The case is also discussed by Fædrelandsvennen.

20 employees are affected
The stores in Kristiansand and Arendal, which were HTH Kjøkken’s only ones in Southern Norway, were closed on Monday.
The kitchen supplier in the two southern villages was established as late as 2023, with the same owners, Trond Aske and Rune Baardsen.
– We haven’t made enough money, quite simply, says Aske, who is general manager of both companies, to Fædrelandsvennen.
In total, the businesses had 23 employees at the start of 2025, of which 17 in Kristiansand.

Big debt
The trustee is lawyer Asbjørn Breistein at the law firm Simonsen Vogt Wiig.

– We have been informed that there are a total of 20 employees in Kristiansand and Arendal, writes Breistein in an email to E24.
The companies leave behind a total debt of around NOK 23 million, according to the trustee.

HTH Kristiansand went from over NOK 13 million to close to NOK 24 million in turnover from 2023 to 2024, according to proff.no.
The result before tax, on the other hand, was sharply in the red, with a total loss of around NOK 9 million.
HTH Arendal went from around NOK 13.5 million to around NOK 28.5 million in turnover over the same period, with a total loss before tax of around NOK 1.4 million.
The equity was negative during the period, and at the start of 2025 at around NOK -9.4 million in HTH Kristiansand and close to – NOK 1.4 million in HTH Arendal.

Bankrupt race
In the past year, E24 has discussed a number of bankruptcies in the construction sector in the wake of high interest rates, increased costs and lower demand.
It also hits the undergrowth of suppliers hard.
Last year, HTH Bergen, with “Norway’s largest kitchen studio”, also went bankrupt.
The building materials industry says it is in a long-term crisis. This is also the message from the construction industry, where both large and small players are hard hit.

Just before the turn of the month, Boligprodösterene presented the lowest new home sales and starts of new homes for the month of January since the measurements began in 2010.
Recently, the staircase and handrail manufacturer Norline Design in Tvedestrand also went bankrupt due to increased costs, interest rates and lower demand.
The company has, among other things, supplied glass and spillway railings for several major projects in Kristiansand.
